Mint is one of our favourite and most distinctive flavours, so it?s no surprise it has been in use for thousands of years as a foodstuff and for its medicinal properties. Mint can grow in almost any temperate climate, but today the main source of mint is perhaps not where you?d expect ? Egypt. Despite being a mostly arid country, mint grows along the fertile, flood-irrigated banks of the Nile. Picked by hand, mint is a robust herb which doesn?t need replanting time and time again, it simply regrows every six weeks.
