Air Fryer Melting-Middle Sausage Stuffing Balls Recipe

Keep your sanity during the holidays with an easy appetiser that just “melts” the stress away. From the savoury sausage to the cheesy, melty center and Schwartz Luxury Bread Sauce dip, every bite of these stuffing balls is more delicious than the next.

- 255 (1 ) unsalted butter
- 1 small onion, very finely diced
- 450 (16 ) pork sausage meat
- 1 sage
- 1 sea salt mill adjustable
- 1 ground black pepper
- 1/2 nutmeg ground
- 50 (2 ) fresh white breadcrumbs
- 125 (5 ) stilton (or if you don’t like stilton, use a mature cheddar!) 7g approx. per ball
- 1 luxury bread sauce
- 300 (10 ) semi-skimmed milk

- Preparation Air Fryer method:*
- Set air fryer to 200°C.*
- In a medium frying pan, on a medium heat, melt butter and add onion. Sweat, stirring regularly for about 5 minutes until nice and soft. Once soft, remove from heat, leave to cool.*
- In a medium bowl, mix the sausage meat and dry ingredients until well combined. Add cooled onions and mix again until fully incorporated.*
- Cut stilton (or cheddar) into approx. 7g cubes, about 1.5cm square.*
- Weigh sausage meat out into 30g portions and wrap each portion around a square of cheese, fully covering it and roll into a ball.*
- Once all balls are made, place in air fryer in an even layer and cook for 8-10 minutes.*
- While the balls are cooking, make the luxury bread sauce dip as per pack instructions.*
- Serve the balls, with the dip in a bowl on the side.*
- Preparation, Oven method:*
- Pre-heat oven to 200 °C, 400F, Gas Mark 6.*
- Cut stilton (or cheddar) into approx. 7g cubes, about 1.5cm square. Put on a tray and place in freezer for 20 minutes minimum or until ready to use (not longer than an hour).*
- In a medium frying pan, on a medium heat, melt butter and add onion. Sweat, stirring regularly for about 5 minutes until nice and soft. Once soft, remove from heat, leave to cool.*
- In a medium bowl, mix sausage meat and dry ingredients until well combined. Add cooled onions and mix again until fully incorporated.*
- Weigh sausage meat out into 30g portions and wrap each portion around a square of cheese, fully covering it and roll into a ball.*
- Once all balls are made, place on a baking tray lined with greaseproof paper in the centre of pre-heated oven for 8-10 minutes. *
- While the balls are cooking, make the luxury bread sauce dip as per pack instructions.*
- Serve the balls, with the dip in a bowl on the side.*
